We do consistent, world class, quality work–every time, on every project. We don’t compromise. That is the E&L Way. It permeates all that we do. We know if we employ our philosophy in every job, the awards will follow.
We think every project we do, big or small, is an award winner. We begin each project with that in mind. It is great to be recognized for good work. It makes our people feel good about their work, but it is also important for our owners. They expect a quality facility for their investment dollars, but to get an award winner is even better.
What is not apparent are the intangibles that the E&L Construction Group has contributed to each project’s success. It is with a sense of deep humility that we express any previous success.

Award Winning Projects:
Although we think every project we do is an award winning project, the following is a list of some of our projects that have received formal state and national recognition.
MRI of Grand Blanc, Grand Blanc, MI, National and Multiple Award Winner
The MRI of Grand Blanc is one of the most beautiful medical buildings in southeastern Michigan. It was our second project to receive national accolades. This project was technically demanding due to the installation of a General Electric diagnostic magnet. This called for special construction methods as no ferrous metal is allowed in the magnet room.
The facility included a beautiful lobby with an open curtain-wall, waiting rooms, conference room, kitchen, computer room, diagnostic reading room, and command control room. This facility was featured in Time Magazine and Sports Illustrated Magazine.

Ice Mountain, Burton MI – National and Multiple Award Winner
We received two awards for the Ice Mountain Hockey Complex, currently known as Crystal Fieldhouse Ice Arena, that we constructed in Burton, MI. This 2 sheet arena had many challenges, a rolling and wet site, a tight budget, and an even tighter schedule. Leagues had been formed and starting dates established prior to completion of the design. This put pressure on the E&L Construction Group to deliver. The facility includes two ice arenas, seating, locker rooms, food concessions, retail sales areas, offices, and conference rooms.

Provincial House, Livonia, MI – National Award Winner
This 580,000+ square foot facility underwent a complete renovation. It is on the historic register which presented many challenges to retain the character of the original construction (1918) and update it to today’s standards. In addition to the renovation, E&L constructed a new entrance/counseling offices to the medical wing, a new chapel, replace 992 windows, constructed a new grotto, renovated 4 stories of rooms on 3 wings (260 rooms), and three new, 4 story elevator towers.

Flint Cultural Center School – State Award Winner
This groundbreaking charter school set a new national standard of excellence in building design and construction. It’s numerous radiussed walls, open learning “steps”, and dynamic learning environment that integrated privacy, security, yet an abundance of daylight made it a record setter.

Phoenix Group Warehouse – State Award Winner
This modern warehouse (200,000+ square feet) was once an abandoned spark plug factory. When E&L took this project on, it had one wall standing, parts of 2 others. It was asbestos ridden, every window in the standing walls were broken, paint peeling from the steel structure, and more. It was a huge challenge that E&L turned into a new warehouse and production facility with offices, production, warehousing, break rooms, conference rooms, kitchens, and team space.
State Award Winner: BUILD MICHIGAN, 1st Place
The White Dress – City Award Winner
The White Dress was an older building in the center of downtown Brighton. Renovation of this facility included turning 3 retail spaces into the White Dress, a wedding boutique. The remainder of the building was renovated for 6 other business suites. The White Dress was deemed an “anchor” for the city of Brighton. E&L did the entire build out, which also included building racks for wedding dresses, a radiused entry feature, pedestals, and a 2 tiered reception desk.

E&L Corporate Offices – State Finalist
E&L took over a dilapidated airplane hangar and 2 story office building and made it one of the nicest construction offices in the Midwest. The hangar was converted to a construction and vehicle maintenance complex with a carpenter bay and tool crib. The office building was gutted, then E&L built 28 state-of-the-art offices, two glass conference rooms, 2 kitchens, private and open office areas. The lobby is spacious with a serpentine reception desk, and open administrative areas and private offices in the executive wing.
