Greater Detroit Radio Group
This project was the first in the state of Michigan of many radio stations converting from analog to digital.
This new construction housed 3 powerhouse radio stations, WCSX, WRIF, WDMK, WMGC. The construction site was adjacent to all 4 radio stations who were broadcasting from their old building. E&L would get live updates (as would over a million listeners) every morning from the radio personalities. The project featured extreme soundproofing between the numerous broadcast studios. Line signals had to be shielded and HVAC controls had to be precise. The interior was very contemporary and featured offices for sales, accounting, management, an employee cafeteria, and other support functions. The fire suppression system had a holding tank that was buried due to the limitation of spacing above ground and the inability of the local municipality to support the large sprinkler system needed for this building. There were numerous fire suppression systems to minimize damage to equipment should they be accidentally activated.
